Overview
Funding Rounds are the primary pathway for the majority of funding under HAFF – Social and Affordable. They deliver a combination of loans and grants through open rounds. This is the main route for most applicants, especially larger or more complex projects.
Through the Funding Rounds, Housing Australia is advancing toward the national target of 40,000 new social and affordable homes by 2029. Rounds to date have committed funding for 279 projects delivering 18,650 homes, including 9,284 social and 9,366 affordable homes. This includes at least 1,200 homes in each of the five largest states - New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia.
Strong partnerships across governments, community housing providers, developers and investors are essential to achieving these outcomes. With the continued support of our investors and partners, Housing Australia is focused on supporting the delivery of long-term, sustainable housing that meet community needs and national priorities.
How Funding Rounds work
Funding Rounds currently involve a two-stage application process: an initial Expression of Interest (EOI), followed by a Detailed Application for successful EOIs.
The two-stage process explained
- Stage 1 – Expression of Interest (EOI): Applicants answer a series of questions assessed against eligibility and evaluation criteria on a pass/fail basis. Successful EOI applicants are invited to submit a Detailed Application, with funding reserved at this stage.
- Stage 2 – Detailed Application: This stage requires detailed responses and supporting evidence. It focuses on financial evaluation of all funding products applied for, including a credit assessment of the concessional loan and HAFF senior debt. Preferred applicants then proceed to contract close.
