In a true-to-life example of how the Scheme is changing people’s lives, Steven, has been able to find long term security for himself and his daughter following a divorce – something he would have been unable to do before the Scheme launched.

Steven’s circumstances meant that securing a safe and suitable home for his young daughter was out of reach. Rising property prices, coupled with the need to live within reasonable distance of his work, left him with no option but to rent – and eventually led to a brief period of homelessness. The Scheme became a turning point, offering him a genuine lifeline back into the housing market.

With affordable repayments and a quick approval process, Steven was able to find a home close to both his workplace and daughter’s day care. Importantly, it has also meant his daughter can also remain close to her mother, providing the stability and continuity that both parents wanted for her.

When asked about the new home and what was important about it, Steven said, “It's my own home and it is in much better condition than the rental I was in, which wasn't safe for my three-year-old. It's also a very good size, which was exactly what I needed. It means security, a place to call home for myself and my daughter, and you can also paint the walls. It also means freedom.”
