The project is backed by Housing Australia funding comprising a $14.2 million loan and a $3.5 million grant. This investment is enabling Hume Community Housing to deliver a total of 28 social homes and 38 affordable homes across three sites in North Parramatta.

Construction is being undertaken by Mono Constructions and will deliver a mix of modern one- and two-bedroom apartments for future tenants. The development will replace seven former fibro and weatherboard cottages that were no longer fit for purpose and transforming the sites into more than 60 new, high-quality homes.

The project is progressing across three sites:

  • Site 1, due for completion in October 2026 will deliver 22 affordable homes, comprising 12 one-bedroom units and 10 two-bedroom apartments
  • Site 2, due for completion in September 2026, will provide a further 16 affordable homes, including six one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments
  • Site 3, which has recently commenced construction, is scheduled for completion in April 2027 and will deliver 28 social homes including 20 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom apartments.

Once complete, the development will provide safe, secure housing for more than 100 residents. Homes will be prioritised for older women on low incomes who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, as well as essential workers, supporting access to housing close to employment and services.

The sites are located within walking distance of Western Sydney University’s Parramatta campus and approximately three kilometres from the Parramatta CBD, offering residents strong connection to education, employment and transport.

Hume Housing will own and manage the affordable housing across 2 of the sites while the social housing on the third site will be owned by Homes NSW and managed by Hume Housing.

The North Parramatta project demonstrates the impact of collaboration between government and the community housing sector in delivering much needed social and affordable housing in priority locations for people who need it most.
